More than any other phrase, the 'economy' runs in society's mind today than ever.According to some definition i picked on answers.com as i could not exactly define economics by textbook dictates,'economics' is often described as a body of knowledge or study that discusses how a society tries to solve the human problems of unlimited wants and scarce resources. The wellbeing of any economy is the concern of many.U and i inclusive. It is not bad to think of a sound economy but at what cost is the challenge. Now,the words scarce resources is the driving force of capitalistic thinking. For as long as there will be scarcity there will be profit making.Anyone that can create scarcity can make profit. In this regard i doubt that any company with half the solution to anything would be willing to tell the other about it.Because there is an opportunity to cah in on what the other knows not about.Until we reach a level where this corrupt way of thinking is uprooted can mankind start believing in sharing the world for a common good.Everything in the world today is built on creating scarcity. Why should access to good schools for example only favour a few rich kids.Schools that are a repository of brilliant minds, minds that should be sharing their knowledge for the world to benefit and yet only a few have access to this database.Furthermore creating scarcity of knowledge. These are the few future adults that will be holding half a solution to a problem. Because their parents paid exorbitant unnecessary fees, they will definately feel entitled to jealously guard their knowledge with their lives and make profit out of their knowledge. It is the boundaries that society ties to the access of knowledge and other things that creates scarcity that breeds the desire for profit.A desire that unfortunately breeds more ills than good in our world. In a nutshell, the day we will stop thinking resources of any kind are scarce and unexpandable and start believing there is enough already for everyone if only we can explore means and ways of making more of what is already available for all and that by all being part of the benefits we can all be part of the solution then we will be nearer to the world we envision on this site. The world does not get any richer by sharing it with million other hungry children in developing countries, or any healthier by sharing it with millions of HIV positive people in Africa, or any more peaceful by killing each other in unnecessary wars. Its by generously allowing all of us to tap into each other's potential can we create a better world.

A Company is actually a group of people. To get a Company to become 'open' without government making it law, then the most influential people in that company must become 'open'. Unfortunately, we are driven by our conditioning, and think it selfish to consider ourselves. To become 'open' we must overcome our natural fears. To do this we must investigate ourselves. We must examine our true values, not those we are conditioned to think are the values we 'should' have. When we know our true feelings and values, ('good' or 'bad' according to our conditioning), we can then acknowledge them and accept them. Having done this, we become content with ourselves and lose our fear. We could even work on changing our values and feelings if there are some that we would like to change. When we accept who we are, then we are not influenced by other people's opinions, we have no fear and can be 'open'. We do not need to hide anything. If influential people in a company lose their fear, then perhaps the company would lose its fear. It would realise that profits can still be made, if it concentrated on bringing the product to the market for the benefit of people, not just to achieve profit. People would buy from a decent company such as this. It is a form of reverse psycholgy.

This is a blue sky thinking idea...All input more than welcome...

People often ask me; "So what do we do about this?"

I then tell them, normally, that they have to follow the advice of the website and go out and tell 10 people. That to me, education, is one of the central ways that we, as humans, can free ourselves from this system which is, after all, of our own making. We choose this, so we can choose another way.

Anyway, for some people that is not enough. So, as a "first step", if you want to aim for something other than education how about this:

Get every business to open up all of its documents to anyone that wants to see them. Whether they be businesses in antagonistic competition with them, or any individual.

"Competition" [for profit still??] then, as it were, would be to see who had the best "information" gathering skills and who could bring a product to market quickest. If Glaxo wanted to know what ICI was up to, they’d only have to ask. So they could, in theory, combine their half of the solution with the ICI half of the solution and produce a new product. If ICI did not undertake the task of looking at Glaxo’s documents and research, then they would be "behind the game".

In this way, humans, you, me, your mum, your loved ones, would all benefit. And one of the scourges of humanity, antagonistic competition, would have the edge taken off of it and the productive forces could get moving again.

Of course, the "class action", of actually asking gov’s to make this law would need people to be educated as to the initial underlying problems.

And just think of all those products out there, waiting to be produced to benefit you. How would it change the face of this current "down turn" in profits?

Any comments?

Cheers,
Dunk
